Yesterday has to be an all time low for post count on this site. That should pretty well put to bed the notion that this place is "interesting" when I am NOT here. Thank you, I am your reason for obsessively lurking here. You all know who you are. HA, I hope you have Sports Pack on Satellite or Cable. They made it for you!

Stats indeed don't lie, but they don't tell the entire story either. Jim Brown is most often considered the greatest running back of all time and he doesn't have the rushing record. But he also only played nine games and only 14 games in each of those seasons.

So chunky you agree with me when i say you cant judge a back by his stats of the past years? Im sure if HE HE HE would take the time to do some research hed find a few 1 hit wonders in the tailback position.

Greens most recent stats show him only gaining 1163 yards in, yes you got it 16 games. Now back when gaining 1000 yards actually meant something thatd be good. But in a 16 game season 1163 yeards is average at best.

But, even if I agreed with you, I will say that the Lions are a potential playoff team with only a couple seasons at most from making a real run at the whole thing. The Packers on the otherhand are in the same category as the Broncos, "has-beens".

There you go fine example terrell davis. Lets take his stats average them and multiply them by as many seasons as Barry and see where he stands.

My problem about Jim Brown being the greatest ever is that people that watched sports in the 60's are always talking about how great their athletes were when in reality (I think) today's athletes would destroy most everyone of them. What would have happened if Barry Sanders played then, it would have been unreal. Older sports fans all have Bill W

TD kicked ass for four straight years and had over 1600 yards in each season and finished one year with over 2,000. He was pretty damn good, but yes he's probably a sentimental pick. Dorsett over Bo, man I don't know about that one. Bo was pretty bad ass for the short time he was around.

I don't think Smith deserves to be in the top three either, he was a phenomenal runningback but he had an offensive line that was just incredible for about six seasons. His longevity is what is the most impressive about him.

Actually it was the 74, 75, 78, and 79 seasons but the Superbowl was played in January so the dates are deceiving. So, the Superbowl in January 1980 for instance was a result of the 1979 season thus it is the 1979 Supebowl, not the 1980 Superbowl. Well its now in Feb., but January back then. Unlike the Hockey format where the season would start in
